Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to get anything right? Like you're being pulled in so many directions that you’re not excelling at any of them? I know that feeling all too well—I face it every single day. But today, I want to share a moment of success with you.
It might seem small, even insignificant to some, but yesterday, I did yard work. Yes, yard work! And would you believe that something so simple made me feel truly accomplished? Let me tell you why.
Six months ago, I was faced with a life-altering decision. I was told that I might never walk again. My options? Amputation from the knee down or a skin graft to close up my leg and hope for the best. To me, amputation felt like giving up. I knew I would always wonder, "What if?" What if I could have kept my leg? What if I could have regained my mobility? So, I chose to take the chance. I chose to fight for my future.
That decision changed my life. In the months that followed, I relearned to walk. To jog. To do housework. To play in the yard with my kids. All without professional physical therapy—I’m still waiting on that referral even now. But I got tired of waiting. So, I did it on my own.
And here I am, six months later, celebrating something as simple as yard work. Because to me, it’s not just pulling weeds or mowing the lawn—it’s proof that I didn’t give up. Proof that no matter what challenges we face, the experts don’t always get the final say.
So, if you’re struggling today, if you feel like you’re not good enough or that the obstacles are too big, I want you to remember this: You are capable of more than you know. You are strong. You are resilient. And you can do anything you set your mind to.
Even yard work.
