Today was A Good Day: A Comeback Story!

Today was a good day. I returned to my serving job for the first time in 9 months—and it felt amazing. I know some people look down on servers, but I absolutely love it. There's something so special about connecting with people from all walks of life, learning their stories, and getting to know my guests. It’s not just a job; it’s a chance to interact, share a smile, and make someone's day a little brighter.

This shift gave me faith back in people. If you knew my journey, you'd understand why. Just a few months ago, I was in a wheelchair, unable to bear weight on my leg. As a 32-year-old woman who felt mentally 100% fine, it was incredibly frustrating. My leg just wouldn’t hold me up.

Since mid-July 2024, I’ve struggled with inconsistent income, unsure of where the money would come from to pay the bills. But today, something beautiful happened. While I was simply doing what I love—serving others and sharing my story—I received an incredibly generous tip from a guest. More than I could have ever imagined. It was a gesture that reminded me just how kind and giving people can be. It was a reminder of all the support I’ve received in unexpected ways.

Today, I felt grateful—grateful for the job I love, for the chance to connect with others, and for the kindness of strangers. Despite the hardships of the past 9 months, I've been provided for, one way or another. And I’ll be eternally thankful to everyone who has made these days easier, whether through a simple smile, a conversation, or an act of kindness.

Here’s to more shifts of serving others, sharing stories, and receiving the kindness of the world!
